Plane strain tension fracture at high strain rate

چکیده
Under plane stress conditions, most micromechanical and phenomenological models predict a minimum in ductility for strain tension state. Therefore, the state of plays crucial role many forming crash applications reliable measurement to fracture is particularly when calibrating modern initiation models. Recently, new experimental technique has been proposed measuring sheet metal after proportional loading under conditions. The basic configuration setup includes dihedral punch which applies out-of-plane onto Nakazima-type discshaped specimen with two symmetric holes an outer diameter 60 mm. In present work, applicability test extended high rates. High rates about 100/s 200/s are obtained using drop weight tower device original sensor load measurements. Quasi static tests also performed comparison, keeping same geometry, image recording parameters set-up. effective strains at compared from quasi-static rate three different materials, i.e one aluminium alloy steels.

Toughness of High-Density Polyethylene in Plane-Strain Fracture
Under uniaxial tension, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) often fractures in a ductile manner. The fracture involves extensive necking that is known to occur in the plane-stress condition. However, for large-scale HDPE products like polyethylene pipe, crack can grow rapidly in a brittle manner. This type of fracture is known to be in the plane-strain condition, which has much lower toughness tha...
متن کاملA Mesoscale Modelling Perspective of Cracking Process and Fracture Energy under High Strain Rate Tension
This paper presents a numerical modelling study on the simulation of the cracking process and fracture energy in concrete under high strain rate. To capture the stress wave effect and the damage evolution at the meso-length scale, both a homogeneous model with a millimetreresolution mesh and an explicit heterogeneous mesoscale model with random polygon aggregates are employed. The tendency of d...
متن کاملMaterial Properties and Constitutive Modeling of Infant Porcine Cerebellum Tissue in Tension at High Strain Rate
BACKGROUND The mechanical characterization of infant porcine cerebellum tissue in tension at high strain rate is crucial for modeling traumatic cerebellum injury, which is in turn helpful for understanding the biomechanics of such injuries suffered in traffic accidents. MATERIAL AND METHOD In this study, the infant porcine cerebellum tissue was given three loading velocities, ie, 2s-1, 20s-1 ...
متن کاملCharacteristic Points of Stress-Strain Curve at High Temperature
Determination of critical points on hot stress-strain curve of metals is crucial in thermo-mechanical processes design. In this investigation a mathematical modeling is given to illustrate the behavior of metal during hot deformation processes such as hot rolling. The critical strain for the onset of dynamic recrystallization has been obtained as a function of strain at the maximum stress. In a...
متن کاملHigh Strain Ra 33 . High Strain Rate and Impact Experiments
Experimental techniques for high-strain-rate measurements and for the study of impactrelated problems are described. An approach to classifying these experimental techniques is presented, and the state-of-the-art is briefly described. An in-depth description of the basis for high-strain-rate experiments is presented, with an emphasis on the development of a range of strain rates and a range of ...
